Hunter Medical Research Institute

Shaw Gidley is pleased to join the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI)’s Circle of Strength group of supporters in 2016/17.

“A powerful, passionate and crucial group of supporters…”
Members of the Circle of Strength will unite to raise vital, untethered research funds to drive research innovation in the Hunter. The assistance from these supporters will ensure that the HMRI is proactive when opportunities arise to advance community health, by capitalising on “game-changing ideas” and innovations as they emerge, retaining the best young researchers, and augmenting the ‘nuts-and-bolts’ work that keeps the HMRI labs and research groups running at full speed.

Through the Circle of Strength’s backing, a senior research committee within HMRI will select the best of the best projects.

Hunter researchers are working across more than 60 health and disease areas, and collaborations are being conducted all across the world. Their research is already making global impacts in asthma and airway diseases, cancer, stroke, mental health, heart disease and much more.

What began in 1998 as a bold vision to improve community wellbeing in the Hunter Region of NSW has today evolved into a world-class institute with 1500 medical researchers, students and support staff striving to prevent, treat and defeat a multitude of serious illnesses.

genXwomen

Shaw Gidley is pleased to continue its support for genXwomen into 2016 and 2017.

genXwomen is a dynamic avenue for Hunter women of all ages to establish alliances and build relationships in our local business community.

genXwomen brings together women from a broad range of backgrounds, industries and experiences in a relaxed environment and gives them access to a wealth of knowledge through a series of speaker events, workshops and social events – all designed to support our members in their personal and professional lives.

The network’s activities are shaped by common interests including work/life balance, business and career building, professional development and communication, finance and wealth management, health, fashion and beauty. We are a not-for-profit organisation that operates with the generous support of our members and business partners. Find out more here www.genxwomen.com.au/
